Welcome to MARATHONMASTERS TOASTMASTERS - Join us on Thursdays, 12pm, 10990 Roe, Overland Park, KS

WHAT IS MARATHONMASTERS?  MarathonMasters is a Toastmasters club dedicated to helping its members become better communicators and leaders.  Guests are always welcome, so come by for a visit to see what we're all about.  We meet Thursdays at 12:00 noon at YRC Freight located on the southwest corner of I-435 and Roe Ave in Overland Park.

With the skills learned from membership in the club, members are able to:

  • Better negotiate salary increases and promotions at their jobs.
  • Explain new concepts more easily and successfully to others.
  • Fill into those roles that require speaking ability, such as in giving a toast or a best man's speech at a wedding.
  • Present material in meetings at their jobs with additional confidence.
  • Move up the employment ladder into higher level leadership positions.
  • Improve their interviewing skills.

Toastmasters Leadership Conference - June 10, 2017

A large crowd of newly elected officers attended the Toastmasters District 22 Leadership Conference, Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Matt Ross Center.

Rob Christeson, Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) and Chief Pathways Ambassador of the new educational programs in Kansas and Western Missouri, delivered an informative training session for newly-elected members serving their clubs as Vice-President - Membership.

Each club officer role (President, VP-education, VP-Membership, VP-Public Relations, Secretary, Treasurer, Sergeant-at-Arms) is very well defined. There are many resources available on the Toastmasters website for new (and experienced) officers.

Al Voorhees, DTM, presented a workshop about High Performance Leadership (HPL). Rob Jones, Sunita Lavin (Garmin G.P.S. Toastmasters), and Julie Connor attended Al's workshop.

This High Performance Leadership SlideShare presentation explains more about the program. HPL manuals can be purchased on the Toastmasters website.

Rob Jones, MarathonMasters Toastmaster, Explains How to "Get to The Point"

Rob Jones, a MarathonMasters Toastmaster and former paramedic, explained and demonstrated the Heimlich Maneuver in an outstanding speech entitled "Get to The Point."

Rob possesses an incredible work history: financial planner (CFP), adjunct professor at Park University School of Business, Emergency Medical Services Education Battalion Chief and Operations Battalion Chief, and an Army Medical Service Corps captain. He is presently Director of Financial Wellness at Hutchins & Haake CPAs. Rob is also a dedicated member of Rotary and an Ambassador for the Philmont Training Center and the Philmont Scout Ranch through the Heart of America Boy Scouts of America Council.

The quality of Rob's speeches as well as his history represents the diversity among MarathonMasters Toastmasters. Our members possess many different levels of speaking and leadership experience. This particularly shines through in speeches delivered every Thursday, 12 noon - 1pm, at our MarathonMasters Toastmasters weekly events.
